Call it What They Want, But Deliver What They Need

I am eight weeks into the semester and what a ride it has been. I think I say that every semester, but this one has been it’s own interesting learning experience.

It’s a grad school, full time parent vibe.

I picked this Joe Harless quote because it really stuck out to me; call it what they want, but deliver what they need. What a perfect way to describe the instructional design process… and the experience with our client this semester. Our experience has actually been excellent (and shout out to our client if you come across this, you’re the real champion!), but I have really been working on reflecting more and putting myself in their shoes through all of this

Which is why Joe’s quote stuck out to me so much. I always think about how a non-ID view of our work. They always have a solution in mind, albeit sometimes that solution’s scope is further than we can reach, but I am always amazed at solutions that are presented. I think it is a very interesting way to explore the business problem from a very unique viewpoint.

Human Performance Books I’m Currently Reading

The Art and Science of Training

https://www.td.org/books/the-art-and-science-of-training

This is an excellent read! I am loving the way that the author has been breaking down the topic of, the science of training, and explaining it to the reader. When I finish I will come back with some bullet points and share my biggest take aways from the book!

Well, here is to another week of solo-parenting my 3 year old, trying to finish books, and designing!
